The Hardest Job in the World – Motherhood
The most underappreciated but most precious and necessary job in the world is that of a mom. Mothers are overworked, stressed, exhausted and often work every waking hour of the day without so much of a “thank you”. Yet they enrich our life, take care of our needs, kiss our boo-boos, wipe our tears, teach us values, and defend us by enemies seen or unseen. How can we thank the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, aunts and the female role models in our lives? How can we get the women in our lives to understand that even though we may forget to say ‘thank you’ most days, we cannot live without them?
This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 12th. Regardless of your budget, there are always plenty of ways to show your mother, grandmother, aunt or the mother of your children how much she means to you.
Show Her How Much She is Valued
There are so many ways to show our mothers how much we appreciate them without spending a dime on Mother’s Day or any day of the year:
- Cook your mom a breakfast or her favorite meal of the day. Choose her favorite foods, with healthy and quality ingredients that she’ll appreciate. The presentation is as important as the meal so decorate the table or tray with flowers, a handwritten note and pretty plates and glassware.
- Make a collage of her favorite photos. Consequently, her favorite photos will include you as well as her other children, family members, spouse and parents. Include pictures of special memories, past holidays, birthdays, family trips, special moments and always choose photos that put your mom in the most flattering light. You can print the photos and arrange on poster board; or create an online collage or slideshow.
- Tell her how much you love her. Nothing is as special as your personal words of what she means to you in a handwritten note, card or stationary. You can write a poem if you’re feeling creative, but its your words that mean the most so speak from the heart and tell her not just that you love her but why. Include some private jokes, funny times together or special memories that you shared. Trust me, this note will be treasured forever.
- Plan a day or outing together. Your time is the most precious gift you can give her, so invite her to a picnic, walk in the park, a coffee or meal at her favorite cafe or restaurant, a day together at home watching her favorite movie or TV show, or just spend time talking together. She will love just being with you.
- Help her out with a chore or errand. Your mom has spent endless hours cleaning after the family’s messes, shopping for groceries, driving her kids to sports games and supporting school functions. Now you can return the favor by helping her out with her least favorite chore, volunteering to clean her house, or run her errands. Again volunteering to do any of these chores with her will not only alleviate her load but share some quality time with her.
- Give Mom a Day Off. If the kids are still small or at home, give her a day off by taking care of the kids, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, cooking the meals, running the errands so you can truly walk a mile in her shoes for the day to truly understand how much she does each day. Meanwhile, give her the day off so she can rest, sleep, shop, hit the spa, get a massage, relax and just kick her feet up for the day.

About Vionic® Shoes
Vionic’s mission began with the work of renowned podiatrist Phillip Vasyli. A pioneer and innovator in the field of lower-limb biomechanics, Vasyli treated thousands of patients, ranging from young children to amateur and professional athletes. Known by friends and colleagues as a “born healer,” he had a genuine passion for making orthotic treatment more affordable and accessible to people in need of pain relief.
Vasyli’s creation revolutionized the industry and paved the way for limitless innovation in the footwear field, laying the groundwork for Vionic’s stylish range of shoes, sandals, boots and orthotics. A groundbreaking study shows Vionic sandals effectively alleviate heel pain.
My mom is so wonderful!! She prays for me everyday. Sometimes I call her at work when it’s a stressful day and she prays with me on the phone. She is my very best friend. Having money and pretty things are nice but I wouldn’t take a billion dollars for her prayers and her love. She’s the best!!!
My mother has been there through me even at the hardest of times. She raised me as a single mother while she had 2 jobs and went to college. Through it all she was always providing for me and was there for me more than anyone else. Now my mom is a teacher, and standing and walking around the classroom has really taken a toll on her feet and she was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. She can only wear shoes with really good arch support. She is absolutely obsessed with Vionic shoes and has a bunch of pairs. I know she would really love to receive a free pair for Mother’s Day because she loves them but they can be a little pricey. Thank you!
My mom has always put me first, even if it meant sacrificing things for herself!
Ruby Holton, my mom, deserves to win for the love and support she has given me and my brother and sister as well as her grandkids. She is an amazing mom and mammaw.
As much as I would like to have new shoes for myself, I want to nominate my daughter. Jennifer Hazelrigg is a recovering addict and wants to make a difference in others lives.
She works full time at Chrysalis House, serving recovering mothers and their babies. She works part time delivering pizza and she is a full time student, studying to be a counselor for addictions. In her “spare time”, she spends time with her children , Brinn 16 and Clara 12. She serves as their taxi and greatest supporter.
Jenni loves her family, her husband and her Lord. I’m blessed to have her attend a ladies Bible study with me on Wednesday nights. She makes time for what matters. She is an encouragement to everyone she meets and she is proof that miracles still happen.
Thank you for your consideration.
Linda McGuire (Proud Mother)
My momma is such an inspiration. She recently battled breast cancer and won after having a mastectomy. And, she did it all without one complaint and always with a smile on her face. She is not only the best mom but one of the strongest women I know. A gift as small as a pair of shoes would absolutely make her day. She deserves that and so much more! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mom:Carolyn Moore
My mother deserves a new pair or shoes because for several years while helping to raise my children her grandchildren there were many times she needed new shoes, however, would neglect her own needs for her two grandchildren needs (and alot of times wants). Not once but on several occasions her shoes would look scuffed or warn and I caught her taking a black magic marker coloring over the scuff marks so that it wasn’t so visible how old they really were. This is just one of many stories that my mother sacrificed her own needs like I said for needs (and alot of wants of my two children whom she was helping me raise) she still til this day doesn’t buy expensive shoes she just settles for little cheap Walmart brand shoes that doesn’t even fit her properly. If she read all the responses on here she would say “well I hope one of these other mother’s win because I do have shoes to wear so I am blessed”!
I wanted to add that my mother also has a condition that all the small bones in her feet just break sometimes just by standing up on them, she has to endure shots for something called plantars affexious (not for sure if that’s spelled right)

I would like to nominate my mom to win because of so many reasons.
I had my third son on April 25th. While my fiance and I were in the hospital for my c-section my mom kept my 9 and 10 year olds. She also picked my house up and did my laundry. She selflessly did all of this while dealing with a new rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis and dealing with her dying mother.
My mom is always here for me regardless of time of day or circumstance. She’s willing to drop everything and pickup or watch my boys anytime I call asking her to.
I hope my mom wins so that she has a good pair of shoes to go to her new job in.
I hope you choose my mama, Amanda Darlene Roark❤
If its OK, I would like to nominate Tanda Perkins for the Mother’s Day Feet Pampering.from Vionic.
As a single Mom, raising 2 strong daughters (my friend Erica & her sister April) Tanda, is still instilling that same strength, integrity, humility & love into her 3 grand kids. As an “outsider” so to speak looking in, I have never seen someone with the absolute drive to make sure EVERYONE else is taking care of FIRST. I can think of no one better to nominate for some pampering this Mother’s Day. Not only for the love, support, & that above & beyond dedication,…. which is so Tanda…not only with her daughters & grandchildren, but with everyone in her life.
I want to nomate my daughter Ashlee Garrett she is a mother of 5. She is a wonderful mother and always there for her children as well as other family members. She works full time from home as a mentor. She is always putting her children and husband first as well as me her mother. She defines the word of a loving caring and very involved mother and daughter. She is my hero and I’m so proud to be her mother.
My mom is the greatest! She has raised my brother and me by herself. My brother has asbergers and I am Downs.
Our mom makes sure she gets us involved in everything she can that will help better our lives. My mom can’t work a full 40 hour week because she has to be there to get me off and on the bus and on to therapy.
She is wonderful, she always puts us first and does very little for herself! I really wish I could do something special for her. I know she would love a pair of these wonderful shoes.
I asked my Memaw to write this for me.
My mother, Terri Johnson, deserves to win simply because she was somehow able to raise me and my three sisters to adulthood. The woman is a gift from God!
My mom because she’s the best and has been through some really tuff stuff this past year. She is so deserving of something good .
