A Tribute to all the Dads in our Lives
From the days of Sonora Smart Dodd, (who dedicated the first Father’s Day to her widower veteran father of six children, on June 19, 1910 in Washington state), to 1972 when it was finally declared a national holiday, fathers and their role in the family have come a long way.
“In 1966, Lyndon B. Johnson, through an executive order, designated the third Sunday in June as the official day to celebrate Father’s Day. However, it wasn’t until 1972, during the Nixon administration, that Father’s Day was officially recognized as a national holiday.” – ArtofManliness.com
Today, fathers are much more than the obscure figure of the 60-70’s family, whose primary role was breadwinner and would occasionally spend time with the children, but left the heavy work of raising children to the mother.
“A generation or two ago, dads were often shadowy figures who disappeared at dawn and returned at dusk. Their role in the family was often relegated to breadwinner and disciplinarian (remember hearing “just wait until your father gets home”?). Thankfully times have changed.” – HealthyPlace.com
These days, dads are much more of an integral part of the family unit starting in the delivery room, taking an active role in the upbringing, playing with them, showing them affection, supporting them, helping with their homework and school projects, and volunteering at their extracurricular activities and sports teams. Traditional roles are becoming blurred as more dads choose to stay home with the kids (or find work from home situations) while their partners/wives pursue their careers.
“While most stay-at-home parents are mothers, fathers represent a growing share of all at-home parents – 16% in 2012, up from 10% in 1989.” – PewSocialTrends.org.
According to the Pew survey, more fathers see parenting as central to their identity and find raising their children an enjoyable experience. And the children are benefiting.
“Children with involved fathers are less likely to break the law and drop out of school, and have higher IQ scores and suffer fewer psychological problems and less prone to obesity.” (Fatherly.com)
And these days, as the traditional family unit has now evolved into diverse, alternative families (with step families, single parents, children being raised by grandparents, foster families and more), the definition of father has expanded to the various loving & supportive male roles in our families, churches, community organizations, schools and sports teams.
Whether you call them “stepfathers”, “big brothers” or “surrogate father figures”, they’re fathering just the same. They understand the importance—for themselves and for children—of bonding with a child, caring for them, encouraging them, and teaching them about life.

He doesn’t show any difference in the children. He has served our country and been on 2 deployments as well as several missions/classes away from us, but always made sure to call, write, video or whatever he could do. He managed to go to college and work full time even if it meant staying up until 3 am doing homework (he would always do homework after the kids were asleep), he also recently graduated with his Masters while working full time, running kids every direction and be supportive at home. He also serves in our church as a leader and a children’s leader. He has not only given so much to us but also to others. He deserves to be treated every day and not just fathers day.”

My dad is special because he has always made sure to take care of the family financially, he will make sure you have everything you need . Even now that I’m grown and have a son and have moved out he tries to make sure I have everything I need . He will give anyone in need the shirt off his back if needed . Possessions and money doesn’t mean anything to him, only love & family !
The “Dad” I want to spoil would be my husband, dad to our two wonderful boys. He’d love a new pair of running shoes; all the better to keep up with our rambunctious four-year-old!
My dad works hard outside the home to provide for our family. He takes time to be there for mine and my brothers activities. He coaches my soccer team and summer basketball. He is an avid runner and takes time to train early in the mornings for marathons and runs 5Ks with me. My dad deserves to win because he is such a great dad and loves us so much. Thank you for considering my dad, Rick Butler, to receive a gift card to Soft Shoe.
Respectfully,
MASON
My husband is the best dad to our 4 children. He took on the responsibility of my 3 boys when we got married and has become their dad. Not just their step dad. He does everything for them and goes above and beyond to show them love and attention. We are so lucky to have him.
My husband, George Baker, is the best dad in the world! He’s constantly thinking about our three girls and it shows by the all the time he spends playing with them & helping them learn and experience new things. He is a wonderful example for our girls! ❤️❤️❤️
He’s been up and he’s been down but he always presses on and does whatever he has to do while remaining a great role model and mentor. My dad is a survivor and he’s my rock!
My love for my husband grew exponentially after watching him become a father to our two children. He has embraced the role since the long awaited day we found out we were pregnant with our first. He strives to be the spiritual leader and a wonderful example of a Christian as he serves others as well as his own family. He works hard to show his family what this world has to offer with as many experiences we can pack into a weekend. He’s also a wonderful husband and I think that’s a great way to show his kids what a faithful marriage should look like for them as well. He loves God, his family, and others and shows it in just about everything he does! We are huge fans of soft shoe and the family owned business it represents. Thanks for being such a huge part of our community.

I lost my dad a couple of years ago so this is a very hard day for me. On the other hand, I have an amazing husband who is the greatest father a woman could ask for. We’ve been through a lot together in our 29 years. He never gives up though. Even though he is disabled, he always manages to provide for his family and make sure that we’re taken care of. I love this man with all my heart and would consider myself blessed to be able to give him a surprise from y’all! Thanks for the opportunity!
My husband became a dad at the age of 18 with our first daughter. He has bent over backward for his 2 daughters and I. Working from daylight to dark making sure we have what we need and also what we want. He never takes time during his day to do something for hisself it’s always doing for his girls. We can always count on him anytime of the day. He is the perfect male role model for our 2 girls. We love him so much and he deserve to be recognized.
My father is one of the most amazing men out here! He has supported me my entire life he has made sure I am always token care of and he is the most amazing grandfather any kid could have. He is really bad sick with his heart problems and has been in and out of the hospital this year but let me tell ya if one of his grandchildren or children needed anything he would make a way. He would give someone the shirt off his back! There is NO way I could ever repay my dad for everything he has done for me but I hope this will show him how appreciative we are for him! So please choose my father!
My grandfather has been a strong replacement for my biological father as he has not been in my life since the age of 3. He is a retired firefighter and has been my support system since day one. I hope to have him walk me down the isle one day in place of the usual father role.
This will be my husband’s first Father’s Day! Our daughter will be one month old. I would love to bless him with some new shoes! He does so much work for us around the house and in the yard. He has been wearing out his shoes and would love a new pair! He really does deserve the best!
Thank you all for offering such awesome giveaways! We love supporting your business!!
My dad is 82 years old he is a veteran who served for more than 30 years, he worked for the state as well. My dad stood by my side and supported me through whatever adventures I choose, he never missed a dance recital or a ball game. My dad now enjoys working out everyday and going to all his grandsons football and basketball games as well as his track meets. My dad was a great role model for me and now for my son and I can’t imagine not having him in our lives. While working for the state and teaching he touched many lives and made lots of great friends. He is a a man who ask for nothing and never buys himself anything new so if he was to win a gift card he could then have some new shoes or boots. I thank my dad for being here for me and my family.
My dad Jesse Begley is a great man, he was seriously hurt working at a paper factory where a HUGE roll of paper knocked him down and went over top of him, so he’s had serious back problems and surgeries. He has his own vinyl siding business but he can’t keep good help or they will work a day or two and not show back up so my dad goes to work alone climbs the tall ladders measures climbs down, gets the siding and cuts it and climbs back up the ladder to hang it, he is 63…. I don’t know if I could do that all day by myself and I’m in my 30s. He is also a colon cancer survivor and his legs are not the greatest plus he has copd. But he works hard… He has 2 blood children but our friends call him dad. He has 7 blood grandchildren but mostly my 20 year olds friends call him pap and that’s because my son played 4 years of basketball and my dad was at every game so he is pap to so many people. He would give you the shirt off his back he helped me get my place…. He didn’t have to but he wanted to help he said don’t worry about paying me back we will worry about that later. My mom was layed off from EKU after 14 years and he still kept on harder than ever. There’s times he gets off work and he don’t make it in the house cause the neighbors are wanting him to come talk or come help fix something. My dad is a great man, I believe he deserves this!! He never worries about himself, so this is why I’m putting my dad in here.
My husband Jeff has been the rock of our family for 17 years. He has filled in as dad for a handful of our nephews and other kids who needed that support. After losing 3 pregnancies we went on to adopt. He was the man I needed as a husband and the man our children needed as a father. We now have 3 kids and he is as wonderful today as he was 17 yrs ago. The love, kindness, humor, dedication, and spiritualness he brings to our family is priceless. He shows our children everyday what the role of a father looks like and he sets the bar high.
The dad in my life that I want to receive a special gift is my fiancé. My son is fifteen and we have been together for almost ten years he takes care of us and never gets to get anything for himself. That’s not the only reason I want him to win. Another reason is because this has been a rough year for us and he deserves something for all his hard work and the fact that he loves mine as his own.
Growing up my dad went above and beyond every day to make sure my siblings and I had everything we needed and most anything we wanted. He continues to be a role model and our biggest supporter in everything we do! Nothing I could ever buy him could make up for what he has done for me in my life; but two $50 gift cards would definitely mean a lot.. ?❤️
My dad is one of a kind , he’s always been a hard working man and continues to be. Most of all he is a godly man and has been the best role model for me , my grandkids and anyone that knows him . He is 82 years old and lives me and my family and is a quiet humble man . He doesn’t shop much and even if he did win he probably would send me to pick him something out ?, but I just wanted you to know that I’m blessed with the best dad ever . Happy Father’s Day to all .
My husband is the dad I want to honor. He is loving and kind. He works so hard to provide for our family. He brings much joy and laughter to our home. His father was not in his life growing up as a child so he made it his number one priority to be the best husband and father he could be. He has more than achieved that goal. He has surpassed it. God truly blessed us with a godly man who loves his family.
My dad never played the “dad” role because my parents were divorced, but my FIANCE’ is the best daddy ever to our 2year old son Linkoln. He never buys anything for himself even though he needs them. He deserves the world for all he does for us and everyone around him.
I am entering my girls Daddy ? See we are even lucky to be parents first of all! We lost out two boys to stillbirth and our girls are out miracle babies 4 sure!
Their Daddy works super hard. Ers shift is a hard position to keep on and he has been doing it for 6 years because it allows him more day time to spend with them and see them grow. I’m sure it g ers hard sometimes with only all girls in the house lol but we want him to know that we appreciate him so Much. Happy father’s day to all you daddy’s out there.
My husband Jared! He works long hard days out in this awful heat so that I can stay at home with our 3 year old son. He could use a new pair of boots his are worn out and hurt his back. Truly appreciate the opportunity to win, would be amazing!
I would like to brag on my son Cody. He has become such a wonderful daddy to his gf Sammy’s precious little 2 year old Ellie. We all have fell in love with our little Ellie. She calls my son Cookie.. which we all think is so cute. He had brought them some favorite cookies when they were first dating so ever since she has called him Cookie. But he helps Sammy anyway he can with taking care of Ellie. Gets her ready for daycare and drops her off on his way to work since her mommy leaves first in the morning for work and he picks her up. They take Ellie on fun family outings together… he got a double blessing when he met Sammy. We got the most precious little granddaughter..?
My husband is the best dad ever! He is a medically retired Army veteran that served 5 tours. I supported his military career for over 10 years with pride and love. After he retired, he lovingly offered to be a stay at home dad to our three children, so I can persure my dreams of going to college and starting my own career. He goes above and beyond as the caretaker for our family. And he always does it without complaining. I am able to focus on my full time school schedule and know that all is well because my husband is handling everything else. I would love for him to win and be able to use both giftcards on himself.
My Dad, Farris Moberly, was the most caring, kind, loving, and hard working man! He is now my angel that watches over me from Heaven! So with that being said, this Father’s Day, I want to honor him, but also my wonderful and loving husband and dad to our two sons, Blake and Justin! John, today we celebrate you for the man that you are in our lives! We couldn’t go through this journey called life without you! We Love You!
As a parent myself, I am starting to wonder how my parents always survived- financially and emotionally. Parenting is fun but it is also hard. My dad continues to play an active role in my life, as well as my son. My mother passed away 9 years ago and they were married for over 30 years. He misses her dearly. I know he gets down. But he is always there when needed and puts everyone in our family first and foremost. At 33 years old, he still reminds me that I can always look to him for guidance. A fathers love just doesn’t stop at age 18, a father continues to care much past that. I would love to honor my father and let him spoil himself, as he spoils everyone else.
My dad was truly one of the best. But passed away 10 Year’s ago this month. I want to put my husband up for the great dad that he is and didn’t have to be. I was divorced with 3 kids Youngest was 11 months old. He had 2 kids from a previous marriage and we became some what of the Brady bunch. Lol. My kids dad has not always been there for my kids. But my husband was always there for them. Once my youngest asked him if he would be her dad. His reply was. You already have a dad. But I will always be ur friend and be here for you. And that he has. Anytime my kids or his needs him he is there. 18 Year’s later. And many more to come. I know my kids and his will have someone they can depend on when needed. I thank god for putting him in my life and my children’s. We love you Jim!!! ❤️
The best Dad I know is my husband. He has been such a wonderful father to our daughter. He always dedicated every free second to her, never missed a single moment in her life, and worked hard to give her everything she needed in life. Now she has given us our first grandchild last week and he is so smitten with her. Hasn’t went a day without seeing her since she’s been born. ? He is the greatest man I’ve ever known and we are so blessed to have him.
My husband is an amazing father to our children. He gives for us and rarely gets anything in return. I would love to be able to give him a new pair of boots. His current ones are about 15 years old.
My dad is one of a kind. He has been there for me my whole life. He worked from daylight to dark most days and even some midnight to provide for us. He was a captain on a boat and started from deckhand and worked his way all the way up. He has been there for me through all of the mistakes I’ve made and he never has given up on me. Now I’m married and have a daughter of my own, and he loves her so much. He is the best papaw and he truly deserves the world!!

well I am entering my husband Jimmy he has to step up and help my mom because I loss my best friend my dad two years ago he is an amazing man and dad ,grandpa , and a great son in law he has put out a garden for my mom does anything she ask him to do he may not fill my daddy shoes but he does a great job we are blessed to have him so a shout out to him we love him thank you.
I would love to be able to spoil my husband for Father’s Day. He works hard for our family.
I have to nominate my husband, who is not only the best husband, but also the best dad in the world. He works incredibly hard every single day, outside in the heat, or freezing cold, rain or snow, 12-15 hour days to make sure we are financially cared for, and to make sure I’m able to stay at home to care for our children. Then, after working a super long day, he comes home and plays with the kids, and always makes sure we eat dinner together as a family. He always makes time to tuck all 3 children in at bedtime. He needs a new pair of boots for work, and this would be a great gift for him!!
My dad is technically my step dad, but he’s always been my dad. He has been in my life since I was 3 years old and he has been there for me when no one else was. He taught me how to fish and hunt and work on cars. He gave me a little brother and sister. He was there for my high school graduation and the birth of my daughter. And he was there by my side when I had cancer at 19 years old. He never gave up on me when I was a difficult teenager. And even now that I’m 31, he still is always there for me and he is a wonderful papaw to my daughter. He deserves the entire world for Father’s Day!
My husband is a great dad to his two girls! He works hard so they have everything they want and need! I’d love for him to win to get something for himself for a change!
My dad was a great father to me. He couldn’t read or write but he provided all his family needed. He never depended on someone else to care for us. He farmed and then worked for the Madison County Road Department until his retirement. Daddy raised a big garden and every kind of animal that was edible. Lol He fished and we always had plenty in the freezer. He took me and my children fishing and we always had a good time. In his later years his mind became troubled for whatever reasons and in 2007 he took his life. It was a hard day and days to come for our family . I keep the good times in the forefront of my mind and think them over Father’s Day. He was a good one!! Loved and missed every day. I don’t gave Instagram to follow but wanted y’all to know my dad was a great one!!
My husband, the father of my three babies! He’s such a great dad & that’s what makes me fall in love with him everyday. He works 60+ hours a week just so I can be a stay at home mom & provide for us. Also, he gets them almost everything they want & need! I could go on & on about all the amazing things he does for his children but that would take forever. He really does deserve this❤️
My dad is by far one of the best fathers out there. My dad has sacrificed so much over the years to provide for me as well as my sister. When I became a single mom, my father stepped up to fill those shoes for my little girl. He knew I had to work to provide for her and graciously gave up his time from retirement to watch her when I went back so I wouldn’t have another expense for daycare. A few years ago I decided to go back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree. My dad has given me encouragement along the way and has helped tremendously with my accomplishment thus far, I graduate in October. My dad was there for every event for me and my sister as well as my daughter. Her first weeball game, first swim lesson, and first dance class. When she started preschool this year, my dad didn’t want her to miss out on daddy days at the school. My dad took her to the events so she would not miss out. I am forever grateful for my dad and the love he shows his granddaughter. I could never thank him enough for the impact he has on my life and my daughter’s life. He is a true example of a father’s love his daughter and granddaughter.
I’m so thankful for my father and the way he raised me and my three siblings I could never thank him enough for all he’s done for us! I wouldn’t have anything if not for him and making sure I make it to horse shows and rodeos and providing entry money. He really is a great man and still works his butt off till this day to help us out with our new lives!
I have two VERY special men/Father’s in my life. First, my Dad! He is definitely the definition of what a wonderful Father should be. He is a even greater grandfather to my Son. We are beyond blessed to have him in our lives and call him OURS! Secondly, is my Husband! He works 12+ hours daily to provide for our family. He is the most selfless man I have ever met. If anyone deserves a day devoted especially to them, it would definitely be him! He’s beyond amazing Husband and wonderful Father to our son. We are so blessed to have these two very special men in our lives!???
Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there. I was blessed with one of the most wonderful dad’s in the world. I unfortunately lost my Dad about 7 years ago. But I am grateful to have been given the time that I had with him. If those out there still have there father’s with them please enjoy each and every minute with them.
My husband and I married in 1981, at the time I had two little girls 5 and 4 years old. They never had a Dad until then. My husband took them as his own and raised and provided for us all including out third daughter. I feel like he deserves the world and would love to win this for him.
I posted last night, but not able to find the post. I decided to post again.
My dad is one of the best men I know. He is and always has been a great provider, counselor, cheerleader, and faith filled man. He always provided for my sister and I growing up. He was always there for us and continues to be there for us as well as my daughter. I became a single mom when my daughter was a baby. My dad became a father figure to my daughter. When I went back to work to provide for her, he graciously watched her while I worked. I decided 2 years ago to go back to school to complete my bachelor’s degree. He has been there offering me encouragement and support every step of the way, I graduate in the fall. My dad has been there for every event for my daughter. Her first weeball game, first swim lesson, first dance class, and most recently her first day of preschool. He did not want my daughter to miss out on events for daddy/daughter day at school. He took her to daddy/daughter events so she would not miss out. I am so thankful for everything my dad does. He has showed my daughter how a father should be. I could never thank him enough for the impact he has on my life as well as my daughter. I would love to get the opportunity to thank him this Father’s Day.
My Dad was the greatest. He passed away 15 years ago. My Dad was a gentle giant. He was always working hard for our family. My Dad never spoke a bad word about anyone. He taught me how to live but also taught me how to die. I miss him so much. Would love to win in honor of him.
My dad already know just what to say and when to say it. Fixes everything ?
My dad always knows what to say and when to say it. He fixes everything. ?
The Dad I would love to spoil is my husband and father of my two boys. He is not only our provider but our household leader. He loves without end and teaches the values that young men should be taught. He is not only my boys father but he is the father figure to an entire JV and Varsity team of high school girls basketball players. He by no means has to coach basketball as he holds a full-time public job (not affiliated with any school system) in addition to countless hours and weekends spent with these two teams. These girls look to him for love and advice in everyday life as many of them do not have a father in their lives. He deserves the world for his care, compassion, and dedication he shows to others. Even if he doesn’t win this “contest” he is still the biggest winner in the end and will receive a mighty reward from above when it’s all said and done! ♥️
My husband is the best dad in the whole world we have 2 kids one of which is stage 3 autistic and he always has so much patience. He definitely deserves a gift card for some new shoes
My dad is the most loving and caring dad, he does everything in his power to give us what we want and need. He works in Indiana and comes home to Richmond every single weekend just to see us and works there to support my family. I want to show him how much we care and appreciate everything he does from driving 2 and 1/2 hours home every weekend to working till 9 every night! ❤️
I don’t want the other gift card for myself, I would gift them to the two dads in my life. The one who stepped up and has been there for me, my mother and my sister. And the one who stepped up and is helping me raise a child of which father walked out.
For 8 yrs, my husband, Cecil has been the sole provider of our family. After the loss of our son, he was a rockstar and stepped up in the job area, working 2 sometimes 3 jobs just to make ends meet. He helps me care for our 12 and 6 yr old girls and I’m very grateful and blessed to have him. He deserves more than I can ever give him.
My dad in my life is my stepfather. My real dad left my mom when she found out she was pregnant with me and my stepdad took the place of him. He has been in my life since I was three and I am now 21. He is the reason I am who I am today and shows me what true love is for a daughter from a dad. He was diagnosed with heart failure a few years ago, and this makes three years since his open heart surgery the doctors did not think he would make through. He never treats himself and puts the family first, so this would be the perfect gift for him.
My husband and I have 4 children, (2 are his step children). From day 1 he has always treated them as his own, even asked them to be his sons and him their step dad when he asked me to marry him. He doesnt show any difference in the children. He deserves to be treated every day and not just fathers day. ♡
My dad is a great loving caring and compassionate man. I am the only girl of four children so i am a tad bit of a daddy’s girl. He worked hard and provided great for all of us children and now granchildren. He is a cancer survivor and had a very rough last year. An amazing godly man that i love with all my heart. Now my children love with all their heart. And he has 2 great granchildren that he adores and is so thankful to be able to enjoy! I hope to win him this! Nothing could ever repay him for all he has done and continues to do for all of us!
The Dad in my life is my hubby!! We married and he treated my 2 boys like they were his own. He still does to this day. Then this Dad and I adopted 2 children. A brother and sister. Then we decided to have 2 of our own! He is still the best daddy to all 6 of our kids!!!
My Dad is the best! He can fix anything and the thing I love about him the most is that he is a peace maker. He always sees the good in people. I love my Daddy.
My dad is so awesome! He is willing to help out anyone in need, whether it be a stranger or a friend. He treats them all equally! Probably why this man never meets a stranger ?
My dad is the most kind loving caring christian man you’ll ever meet. Growing up he never once raised his voice to me. He always worked and took care of his family until he got cancer around 10 years ago. But God healed him and during his battle I never once saw him get down. He has 6 great grandkids who he loves very much. He was able to go back to part time work a few years ago he loves to walk but has bad feet so a gift card with some new walking shoes would be perfect. ?
